As an artist, Ellie’s passion is portraiture – sculpting faces of the famous, the cherished, the whimsical and the intriguing. Working from photographs, she sculpts her original portraits in clay, creates a mould and casts each piece in cold-cast bronze or brightly coloured resin. Every portrait and stand is carefully crafted by hand in her studio in Edmonton.

Her creations are often replicated in miniature and fashioned into products such as key chains, lapel pins, pendants, earrings, Christmas ornaments and FaceBooks. Wholesale as well as retail pricing is available on her work so that it may be used for fundraisers or corporate gifts, in addition to retail sales.

Ellie often sculpts portraits on commission. Her work can be found in private collections in the US, Netherlands, UK and across Canada. Nelson Mandela is part of a collection in the Golspie Gallery in Scotland, and Professor Stephen Hawking’s family owns the portrait she created for his 75th birthday. She is represented by Gossamer Gallery in Wabamun Alberta, Black Star Studios in Invermere BC, and StudioYEG Art in Edmonton Alberta.

Largely self-taught, Ellie began sculpting in 2000. Her work is rooted in the belief that there is an important place for three-dimensional, tactile sculpture among the graphic art on every collector’s walls.

Ellie is currently President of the Sculptors’ Association of Alberta.
